Our Library
Nothing in this library was created because we wanted to publish another book. Every book, guide and resource began with a learner.
A question that kept being asked. A concept that wasn't making sense. A barrier that needed to be overcome. Or an opportunity to explain mathematics in a different way.
Everything you find here has grown from years of listening, teaching, reflecting and learning.
It is all part of one educational philosophy: helping everyone find their way into, through and beyond maths.
Some resources explain mathematics through words. Some through pictures. Others explore the psychology of learning mathematics itself. Together they form the Making Maths Make Sense Collection.
Our In Words books explain mathematical ideas clearly, practically and in a way that builds understanding rather than simply preparing learners for an examination.

Some learners understand mathematics more easily when they can see it. The In Pictures series is being developed to complement the In Words books with highly visual explanations that support different ways of learning.
Additional Level 1 titles will also be added as the collection grows.
Making Maths Make Sense is about much more than passing examinations. Our future publications explore the thinking, confidence and psychology that influence mathematical learning.
Why do so many capable people believe they can't do mathematics? A book exploring the beliefs, experiences and confidence that shape our relationship with mathematics — and why changing that relationship can change lives.
Follow the book's progressThe educational philosophy behind a movement
The book that brings together the ideas, principles and experiences that have shaped the Making Maths Make Sense approach. It is an invitation to think differently about mathematics, learning and the people we teach.
This library will continue to grow. Not because we want to publish more books, but because every learner teaches us something new.
As our understanding develops, so too will the resources we create.
Whether you are a learner, a teacher, a parent or someone who simply believes mathematics can be taught differently, we hope you will find something here that helps you on your own journey.
Before you leave...
I'd like to ask you one question.
What is your relationship with maths?
Because every resource in this library began with someone asking that question.
